WELCOME TO LIGHTHOUSE GRAPHICS NEW ZEALAND

Lighthouse Graphics is an independent publishing company based in Gisborne, New Zealand. We develop design and visual communication teaching resources for secondary schools on both sides of the Tasman.

Author Dean Thomas has over 25 years’ experience in technology education at secondary level, with an emphasis on design and visual communication. He has also tutored building apprentices at tertiary level.

Before teaching, Dean trained and worked as a draughtsman, builder
and landscape designer. He has worked extensively in these fields and he also runs his own architectural and landscape design company.

The workbooks were created to make life easier in the classroom. They are comprehensive, quality resources intended to enhance teaching programmes and increase students' enjoyment of graphics.

The workbooks are designed to supplement existing teacher briefs and classroom materials and are intended to help students learn how to communicate visually, using fundamental drawing and design techniques. The students are given the tools and confidence to master key design concepts, combined with the drawing skills to present design solutions to a high standard.

The workbook format is clear and concise with each course presented in a 100gsm A3 pad with user-friendly notes for reference and revision. The pages are removable so students can complete the worksheets at school or at home.
